Dennis Richard Kumm Obituary  

Dennis Richard Kumm, 55, Lincoln, died Friday (7/14/06) at Lancaster Manor from cancer. Born Aug. 14, 1950, to Florence (Demien) and Arnim Kumm. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Graduated from Lincoln High in 1968. Continued with college and graduated from University of Nebraska-Omaha with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Dennis was a former Lancaster County deputy sheriff and the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency. Dennis was united in holy matrimony in 1983 to Madeline S. (Vollweiler/Pavelka) and welcomed a baby girl, Amanda, in August of 1984. He was very dedicated to his job and to the many organizations in which he was involved over the span of his life, including Blue Beret/EAA in Oshkosh, Wis., React, Optimist International and the Lincoln Lutheran Association. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a retired colonel in the Civil Air Patrol. Dennis will be remembered for his strong sense of leadership and authority, his sense of humor and his ability to see the positive side of everything, no matter the situation. Survivors include: daughter, Amanda, Lincoln; father, Arnim, Lincoln; brother, sister-in-law, Jim and Phyllis, Davey; sister, Rita Webb, Lincoln; ex-wife, Madeline Kennedy, Hastings; three stepchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and acquaintances. Preceded in death by his mother.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Wildbriar Lane. Pastor Clint Poppe. Lincoln Memorial Park, 6700 S. 14th St. Visitation: after 5 p.m. today; 6-8 p.m. Monday, with family present, all at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St. Memorials to the family.
