I believe the Anna Bergfeld, 16, that came on the Julius with Moritz is my double gggrandmother. She was born 23 Jul 1833 in Prussia and died 25 Sep 1900 in Perry County, Illinois. She married Moritz Feldmeier (now Feltmeyer) on 10 Jun 1852 in Monroe County, Illinois.
Anna's children were:
Louis (my ggrandfather paternal side), William, Charles,George,
Alex, Bertha, Elizabeth (my ggrandmother maternal side), and Wilhamina
With the coincidence of names, I'm sure these people are related. My grandfather (Elizabeth's son) was Alexander James Moritz Pulke called Alex.
I'd like to quote Elizabeth Feltmeyer Reinhardt. She is the cousin where I got what little info I have on the Bergfelds. This is part of a letter she wrote to me in 1984. Elizabeth lived until well into her 90's. She was talking about the Feltmeyers here, but I think she had become confused over time. She was talking about the Bergfelds. I quote, "One of Grandfather Moritz's (Feltmeyer) brothers died on the way over from Germany and was buried at sea. Another one was a grand musician and played before Kaiser Wilhelm".
Elizabeth also told me that Anna's family was very wealthy and all the boys were educated in Paris. She said her family was Jewelers and they had a shop in St. Louis on Washington Street. She had 4 sisters that died with Cholera in one year.
